Biography

Luiza Teixeira de Freitas lives in Lisbon and is an independent curator involved in various projects, especially her curatorial work with private collections. Luiza is actively involved with independent publications and artist books and has recently launched her own publisher named Taffimai. Her recent exhibitions include “Tandem: Grada Kilomba and Mounira Al Solh” (Alexander & Bonin, New York, 2019), “Tandem: Gabriel Abrantes and Belén Uriel” (Alexander & Bonin, New York, 2019), “There will never be a door. You are inside. Works from the Coleção Teixeira de Freitas”, (Santander Art Gallery, Madrid, 2019), the co-curating of "A Shimmer of Possibility" (Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, Évora, 2017), Projects LA (Los Angeles, 2017), "Paloma Bosquê: O Oco e a Emenda" (Pavilhão Branco, Museu da Cidade, Lisbon, 2017); "Amalia Pica: At Arm's Length" (NC-art, Bogotá, 2017); "What I am" (MAAT, Lisbon, 2017); "El que camina al lado" (Travesia Cuatro, Madrid, 2016 and Guadalajara, 2016); 'An Infinite Conversation' (Museu Berardo, Lisbon, 2014); 'Apestraction' by Damián Ortega (Freud Museum, London, 2013); was part of the curatorial team of Coimbra's Anozero Biennale Healing and Repairing (2017); worked on special projects for Alexander & Bonin, New York (2006-12) and kurimanzutto, Mexico (2008-12); was assistant curator of the Marrakech Biennale, "Works and Places" (2009) and collaborated at Tate Modern, London at the exhibitions of Cildo Meireles and Cy Twombly (2008). Luiza is a strategy consultant at the Delfina Foundation in London.
