Mercedes López Moreyra (1990, Argentina) Based in Alicante, Spain. Independent curator and cultural manager. Founder and chief curator of Relieve Contemporáneo. My curatorial practice seeks to develop projects in specific contexts with the aim of connecting communities with their environments based on plural and inclusive proposals. I seek to deconstruct the preconceived habits and customs linking diverse artistic scenes from different territories, in order to explore limits and flexibilities between space, time and cultures. Working as a cultural manager and art curator in enviroments with under developed art scenes and markets, I have experience in developing initiatives based on indepence, self-management, multidisciplinary collaboration and alternative ways of production. I have curated, managed and produced different projects where I have had the opportunity to research and learn about the different emerging contemporary art scenes in the main cities of Latin America. From 2012 to 2018 I worked in the multi cultural field as director and curator of ¨Festival Chatarra¨, a visual arts festival focused in art as a means of social trasformation. The festival had five editions in different cities of Argentina and included the participation of more than fifty artists from Argentina and Brazil. In 2017 I co-founded Relieve Contemporáneo, a digital platform specialized in Latin American contemporary art. Since then Relieve Contemporáneo has functioned mainly as a digital media focused in alternative projects and emerging artists from Latin America. We have participated as media partners in Latin America´s main fairs such as arteBA, ArtLima, Ch.ACO and Art Rio. From 2020 on, it will also function as a production platform promoting relations between Latin American and European art scenes. I am also producer and co-curator of ¨Vuelta¨, a nomadic curatorial project under the umbrella of Relieve Contemporáneo, focused on linking scenes, galleries, artists and curators from different countries, working together in ephemeral exhibitions in different cities. Vuelta had two editions, the first was in Santiago de Chile (November 2018), the second in Córdoba, Argentina (August 2019). Future editions are on hold in Madrid, Buenos Aires and Lima.
